The UTSA Department of Physics and Astronomy invites everyone to our monthly lecture and stargazing event «Friday Nights Celestial Lights» to be held January 20th beginning at 7:30 PM in the Flawn Science Building room 2.02.02 on the University of Texas at San Antonio Main Campus.
Department staff each month takes recent topic if interest in astronomy/space science and discuss it in an easy to understand format for the general public. It is then followed by a question and answer period. The lecture is aimed not to be too scientifically «heavy» and can be understood by a middle school student.
This month's lecture topic will be titled «Exoplanets: The Search for the next Earth». We will explore in detail the latest announcement from NASA on the Trappist-1 system and what new discoveries that are being made each week in exoplanet science.
Stargazing to follow immediately after the lecture (weather permitting) at the Curtis Vaughan Observatory.
