The Alamo invites you to join us in celebrating International Museum Day with two special history talks in the historic Cavalry Courtyard. This event is free to the public.

1:30 pm Unknown Frescos Discovered in the Sacristy of the Alamo

During the time when Mission San Antonio de Valero, The Alamo, was under construction, artisans from Queretaro added beautiful tinted limewashes to the walls of the Sacristy. The painted designs created an elegant room. Come learn how these frescos, which had been lost for centuries, were rediscovered.

3:30 pm Contested Texas: How an International Race to Claim Territory Created the Alamo & San Antonio

International events led to the establishment of the Texas borderland community called San Antonio de Béxar. Participants in this contest included indigenous people, Spaniards, Mexicans, and Americans. Come learn the important role Mission San Antonio de Valero and Béxar played in the history of Texas.
