Henri Nouwen is universally acclaimed as one of the most popular and influential spiritual writers of the 20th century. The author of more than 60 books, he taught at both Harvard and Yale and lectured extensively around the world. After nearly two decades of teaching at academic institutions, Nouwen went on to work with mentally and physically handicapped people at the L’Arche Daybreak community in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Perhaps more than any other person, he was helpful in having spirituality accepted as an academic discipline and for making spirituality popular in Protestant and Evangelical circles, while writing as a Roman Catholic. He was a complex man – an artist, a restless searcher, a hopeless romantic, a deeply committed Christian, a man of deep prayer, and a priest. All this helped shape his writings, both in depth and in breadth. To meet and read Henri Nouwen is to be more-properly introduced to yourself.

This is an Institute for the struggling and the restless, as well as for the prayerful and the faith-filled. Come join us for three days of drinking from the deep well that was Henri Nouwen.
