Here's a a little bit of detail on what this event is all about:
We all know its true; Apathy and people over 65 are deciding who gets to run this city.
If you didnt know that, google it. Or ask your friend to google it for you. Either way, It's not going to change the fact.
There really is no good reason! We are not a defeated generation. We are the gatekeepers to one of the most powerful tools to mankind and our understanding of information, the internet.
Most of us are able to keep up with the latest Doggo memes or bash the national headlines on FB. So, why is it that votership for people under 65 is so rediculously low in elections where each individuals vote actually can have a huge impact?
Guess what? it doesn't matter because WE can still act here in San Antonio!
And whats better than just acting? Going out to a party or an event where you can have a drink or two, listen to badass music, discuss the local political scene (GRACEFULLY), and then have someone literally taxi you over to the polls so that your vote not only gets counted but you can document the process and actually show people how you owned the whole experience and not have it be the other way around.
The run off Mayoral election is coming and we now get two choices as our option as mayor, as well as voting on our district council representatives.
So, ultimately, this event is about setting the stage for those who dont typically go out and vote (for WHATEVER reason) to come out and feel comfortable with an otherwise unfamilar process.
Its painless. Trust me. Plus, you might meet a sweet old lady and get a sticker that shows off how civic minded you are!
Good good things!
So here's the deal: Come out. Drink a beer. Take a selfie or an some artsy filtered picture. Share the experience. Listen to your community. Listen to some music. Make it your own. Make it ours.
