Big-Little Comedy will once again be participating in 48 Hour Film Project San Antonio, where we will be hosted by Bexar Stage — August 11-13!
If you've never participated in a 48 Hour Film Project before, the idea is exactly what it sounds like: At 7:00 on a Friday, each film team will be randomly assigned a film genre and be given 2 days to turn in a completed film. All teams must include a designated character, prop, and line of dialogue in addition to their genre to ensure that all films are written, filmed, and edited within the confines of the time limit.
Films will be screened on Sunday, August 20 at Alamo Drafthouse and then judged and awarded prizes in multiple categories.
The spontaneous nature of this project lends itself really well to improvisers, which is why we always do so well. (We've won multiple awards in years past!)
— Here's a tentative schedule for how the weekend will go:
6:00pm — 48HFP Kickoff Event & assignments given
8:00pm — Writing begins at Bexar Stage
(Please be advised that the writing staff will be a very small, select group to avoid «too many cooks» in the writing kitchen.
Writers will be fed, but the writing staff should prepare to write through the night since we can't afford to waste time.)
8:00am — Production staff meeting at Bexar Stage
9:30am — Actors called / filming begins
We will film all day. If you're on set, we will provide food for you.
(Again, seeing as we cannot possibly know our story yet, we do not know when or where we will be filming. Those details will come to you by email in the wee hours of Saturday morning, so if you're volunteering to be on our «on call» list, make sure you're ready for anything!)
Late Saturday and most of the day Sunday will be dedicated to editing & post-production. Pending anything crazy, most of the cast/crew will not be needed.
— Please RSVP and leave in the comment section WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE and WHAT PART OF THE PROJECT you would like to be involved in (writing, acting, production, etc.)
WE DON'T KNOW WHO WE WILL NEED YET ACTOR-WISE. That will depend on our genre & characters as to what look/skills our actors might need to have for filming. Even if we know you or have worked with you before, send your resumes to [email protected]
so we have them at the ready in case we have questions in the middle of the night while we're writing.
If you have any special skills or talents that might come in handy — singing, dancing, juggling, musical talents, fluency in another language, contortionism, ANYTHING — please let us know. Who knows what'll come in handy?
Please also let me know if you have access to any LOCATIONS we might use. Who knows if it'll come into play, but it'll help us shape our script if we know what tools we have access to.
Thanks, of course, for being part of this with us. I think it'll be really fun.
