Nuevo Teatro is San Antonio's newest summer theater festival featuring original performance work by contemporary theater artists. From emerging voices to established artists, this festival will showcase the cultural and artistic diversity of the Latin@, Chican@, Native American and South Texas experience. With over 15 performances, dozens of artists, and offerings for youth, families and adults, Nuevo Teatro: A Festival of New Works will have something for everyone.
A Festival of New Works will have something for everyone. Highlights at the Guadalupe Theater include: 100% NDN (Naturally Designed Natives) written by Isaac Alvarez Cardenas, Gaytino written and performed by Dan Guerrero, Why Would I Mispronounce My Own Name written and performed by Irma Herrera, Ruby Reds, Big Birds and Burras written and directed by Marisela Barrera and performances by Grupo Animo, the GCAC's resident youth theatre company.
In addition, be sure to catch 8X8X8 CABARET DU JUMP, An evening of 8-minute performances in an 8-foot cube at the Jump-Start Theater.
This year's festival will also host readings, workshops and social events giving audiences an opportunity to interact with the artists. $5-$20
