Summer Dance Camp 2017
Learn the FUN-damentals of dance with Jade Esteban Estrada. Designed for movers of all ages, this week-long camp will explore the basics of ballet and modern dance in a fun and nurturing environment. Summer Dance Camp program consists of one full-week session from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 17-21, 2017.
Estrada trained in the world’s dance capital, New York City. Classes encompass a wide range of body practices, designed to increase core strength, flexibility and mobility. These classes focus upon expanding one’s understanding and efficient use of the body and are suitable for professional dancers and non-dancers alike.
Daily technique class in ballet, modern and conditioning will offer students the opportunity to discover more about compositional techniques and artistic choreographic practices while being immersed technical movement study.
A typical day will comprise of a warm-up class, followed by creative workshops aimed at sparking original movement and composition approaches. Throughout the workshop students have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers as well as explore their own individual inspiration and develop tools to composer your own work
The choreography workshop will conclude with an informal showcase for family and friends, where students will demonstrate their growth over this unique week-long immersion.
PROGRAM OF STUDY
Dancers will learn movement phrases and use them to create and perform their own dances.
Explore more advanced vocabulary and modern dance technique
Classes will build towards an informal showing at the end of the intensive.
Summer Dance Camp participants will join a wonderful and diverse community of artists pursuing their passion.
Students who complete the Summer Dance Camp Study program will receive a Certificate of Completion.
About Jade Esteban Estrada:
Mr. Estrada graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and continued his training at STEPS and Broadway Dance Center. From 1998-2000, he was choreographer and lead dancer for Latin TV personality Charo and performed with her from Honolulu to Atlantic City. He was the artistic director for the Experiencia Dance Company at Teatro La Tea in New York from 2003-2005. He choreographed The Magical Wizardry of LaRaf on their tour of the Far East. In New York, he choreographed La Muela del Rey Farfan at Queens Theatre in the Park, Tropical! at Teatro La Tea and Boys and Girls Together at the Milagro Theatre. On the big screen, he choreographed the dance sequences in the film A Perfect Fit starring Adrian Grenier (Best Film – 2005 Annapolis Film Festival, Best Film – 2005 Brooklyn International Film Festival). He taught lyrical jazz at Image Dance Academy (San Antonio, Texas) and his highly-acclaimed dance workshop JazzLesque: Dance Technique for Burlesque at The Dance Complex (Cambridge, Massachusetts).
