About Thrive Youth Center: As the only overnight shelter for LGBTQ youth in Texas and the Southwest United States, Thrive Youth Center in San Antonio, Texas, fills an incredible need in our community. With 40% of the 1.6 million homeless youth in the United States identifying as LGBTQ and only a handful of LGBTQ-specific shelters in the United States, there is hardly anywhere to turn for LGBTQ services. Rejection and disownment by family members, who are supposed to be loving figures, remain the primary causes. Acceptance in society is essential for LGBTQ youth since many have no family support system to turn to. Unfortunately this acceptance cannot be guaranteed at typical homeless shelters, many of which show opposition to sexual minorities. Your table/ticket purchase to this event helps Thrive Youth Center empower our youth to live productive and successful lives.
About our evening's entertainment: Delighted Tobehere was named as one of the funniest drag queens in America by the Huffington Post, and the internationally celebrated comedian Pam Ann says that she is “hysterical!” In 2015, Delighted debuted on NBC's America's Got Talent to rave reviews and four «Yes» votes from the judges: «I loved the entire performance» — Howard Stern, and "[Delighted] just became the first country music drag star!" — Howie Mandel. A self described «Queen of all Trades,» Delighted combines celebrity illusion, vocal impressions, live vocals, lip sync, comedy, intelligence, and quick wit to wow audiences from corporate functions to pride festivals.
