Explore the Hispanic heritage of San Antonio through the missions’ cultural history, their natural landscape, and local food. Join us for a 2-hour, 2.5-mile walking tour of Mission San Juan and Espada Aqueduct followed by a taco picnic.
Agriculture was an essential part of mission communities in San Antonio since their establishment in the early 1700s. Mission inhabitants built miles of acequias diverting water from the San Antonio River into the missions’ labores. The crops grown in the missions' farmlands came from all over the Spanish Empire, transforming the diet of indigenous people, their culture, and the natural landscape of San Antonio. Today visitors to San Antonio Missions can explore the roots of San Antonio's unique culture and identity.
This event is a partnership between the National Park Service and Mission Heritage Partners. Breakfast tacos sponsored by Mission Heritage Partners.
