Doc Watkins has the privilege of bringing the sounds and vibes of NOLA to Jazz, TX every Friday night! Doc has assembled a 6 piece band that includes New Orleans native Pierre Poree!
Pierre began playing when he was 10 years old and decided then and there to make music his life's work. A master vocalist, Pierre derived much musical inspiration from the great Stevie Wonder. As a result, in addition to playing fine sax and clarinet, Pierre's vocal styling can move and captivate an audience like few others.
While still in New Orleans, Pierre led a very busy life as a performer, as well as a Middle School band director. As an in-demand freelance performer in New Orleans, Pierre was an established fixture with bands of various sizes at world famous restaurants like Arnaud's, Mr. B's Bistro and Commander's Palace.
After the mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Katrina, Pierre and his family headed to San Antonio, TX. Pierre went on to established himself as one of the busiest jazz musicians in San Antonio. In fact, Pierre started to receive bookings for engagements just four days after his arrival in San Antonio and has been working three to four nights a week ever since.
