The 8 week program is designed to prepare newbie triathletes for a strong race finish! You don’t need any triathlon experience – we promise! We will cover drills and skills in each swim, bike and run workout. There’s also an option to select the triathlon + strength program. Get in incredible shape by cross-training along with triathlon training! This is especially ideal if you’re following the Rookie to Half Ironman or Rookie to Ironman program.

There are two assessments during the program (week 3 and week 7) allowing you to see where you are in your fitness and how you stack against the race distance. If you need additional coaching, we will recommend private swim, bike and/or run sessions. You cannot get lost in this program. There are so many resources available to you to ensure you make it to the finish line. It is our top priority to get you ready and confident come race day.

Minimum eligibility requirements
To ensure success in the training program, here are the minimum requirements:

Be able to run/jog/walk 1 mile.
Must have a bicycle and helmet.
Other required equipment needs for training and race day will be discussed during the program.

Read a few testimonials from some of our Rookie to Sprint triathletes:

“What a great day! I enjoyed seeing our team members on the race course and hearing the cheering crew every time I went by! It was so motivational!”

“Thanks for your training and support the past few months in preparation for race day!”

“I learned so much from this experience. I am totally hooked. Everyone from Alamo 180 was awesome, the coaches, supporters, and the athletes. I’m so blessed to be part of such an awesome group.”

«I'll never forget the first day I joined Alamo 180.It was a swim day and I remember driving downtown thinking, am I crazy? Can I really do this? Do I have what it takes? What will those triathletes think of me? I was feeling very nervous, shy, and downright scared. I'd never been an athlete in my life and HATED exercising. I was overweight, out of shape, and felt very self conscious just putting on my swim suit. But I refused to give in to these feelings until I at least tried it. I had to know one way or the other whether this was something I could do. Boy am I glad I overcame my fear! Not only have I found my self confidence, but I've made friendships that I wouldn't change for the world. That first day changed the rest of my life. Find your courage, you may learn something about yourself that you never could have dreamed.»

If you've been wanting to train for a triathlon but didn't know how or where to start, start with Alamo 180. Follow a training plan that has gotten countless rookies to the finish line of their first triathlon. Train alongside other beginners and build friendships along the way! You'll be motivated and encouraged on an incredible journey!
