Write Art Out's efforts began in 2016 when San Antonio won the bid to host Southern Fried 2018. A number of local area poets, organizers, and volunteers began work getting the city of San Antonio, local area nonprofits, and the entire poetry scene of SA behind this festival. While it may not be well-known, San Antonio has a vibrant literary scene. The poets of our city dedicate as much time to giving back to the community as they do to their craft. To better structure their efforts and aid in the production of Southern Fried 2018, the poets created a not-for-profit organization, Write Art Out Inc.
From June 12 — 17, 32 poetry teams and 16 individual poets will come through the Alamo City to share incredible wo...rks of words and heart. The preliminary venues are open to the public from Weds, June 13 to Friday, June 15, with the final poetry slam on Saturday, June 16th at the Carver Community Center. Further details on the festival itself can be found at southernfriedpoetryslam.com or on Facebook at The Blah Poetry Spot. Any further questions, feel free to email us at [email protected]
All funds raised in this campaign go to the artists and supporting the 2018 Southern Fried Poetry Slam in San Antonio.
